What is the Ford Traffic Sign Recognition System?

The Ford Traffic Sign Recognition System is an innovative technology that identifies traffic signs and displays relevant information on the instrument cluster. It has been designed to help drivers stay aware of signs and stay safe on the road. Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. Every time you enter a new limit, an icon of that speed will stay up to date on the instrument panel.

How does it work?

This technology uses a forward-facing camera that is connected to recognition software and mounted behind the rear-view mirror. The camera monitors oncoming traffic sign and then displays them on the screen in front of you. The system encourages safe speed practice and it is not there to replace a driver’s understanding of the Highway Code, but to take away the stress of constantly focusing on signs. Therefore, you can enjoy a safer, more relaxing drive.
