City streets, motorways, country roads… Wherever work takes you, Transit will take you in comfort whilst a range of innovative technologies make driving and parking easier.
From parking sensors to systems that can alert you to obstacles and pedestrians in the road, warn you if you begin to stray out of your lane and even monitor your driving behaviour to detect any changes which could be caused by fatigue. It’s definitely a case of working smarter, not harder.
A system that can help protect pedestrians
Optional Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Active Braking uses a radar and camera to detect vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, and even people who may cross your path. It will alert you to a potential collision. If you don’t respond to the system’s warning, Active Braking pre-fills the braking system and can automatically apply the brakes to reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid them altogether (functions at speeds of up to 45 mph).
(Available as part of the Lane Departure Warning pack)
SelectShift automatic transmission
The all-new 130 PS and 170 PS Ford EcoBlue 2.0L TDCi engines are available with a new six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. This is designed to provide a smooth and relaxing driving experience, especially in busy stop-start traffic. The transmission allows you to change gear manually if you prefer, using the facia-mounted gearshift. It also provides the ability to lock out gears in more challenging driving conditions, e.g. on slippery surfaces or steep gradients. (Available from January 2017)
Cruise control that can adapt automatically
With the optional Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow your Transit to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.
Forward Alert is a technology that comes as part of Adaptive Cruise Control and is designed to warn you if you accidentally get too close to the vehicle in front.
(Adaptive Cruise Control is available as part of the Lane Departure Warning pack)
Controlled fun with a finely tuned chassis
A meticulously tuned chassis, substantially stiffened in both front and rear axles, brings excellent levels of stability and control. The benefit is increased, thanks to an optimised, ultra-stiff body structure.
Maximum grip for greater control
Torque Vectoring Control reacts to the road surface 100 times per second. (That’s 33 times faster than the blink of an eye.) Using this information, it balances the amount of power delivered to each of the two front wheels. This maximises grip and sharpens handling, helping you round corners and over undulations in the road.
Make light work of every turn
The turning circle of the L2 Transit Van is just 11.9 metres. And even the longer models are highly manoeuvrable and easy to turn, particularly with advanced power steering.
A range of all-new Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre TDCi engines offer increased power and torque and, at the same time, deliver improved fuel economy and lower emissions. In addition, they already meet strict Euro Stage 6 emissions legislation.
Combined with technologies that include Smart Regenerative Charging, Acceleration Control and Auto-Start-Stop, Transit is designed to minimise your fuel bills, lower your cost of ownership and maximise the return on your valuable investment.
Engineered to meet strict Euro6 emissions standards, Transit’s all-new Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre TDCi engines combine outstanding performance and power with lower fuel consumption and emissions, from as low as 42.2 combined mpg and 174g/km CO2. To lower running costs further, service intervals are now up to 60,000kms or 2 years. Available in three power outputs of 105 PS/ 360 Nm, 130 PS / 385 Nm and 170PS / 405 Nm, there’s an option to suit your needs
The advanced all-new Ford EcoBlue 2.0L TDCi diesel engines comply with the stringent Euro6 emissions standard, which specifies a 55% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions versus the Euro5 emissions standard.
A Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system uses AdBlue®, a urea/water-based fluid to convert NOx emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces more than 99% of emitted solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust. To operate correctly, the AdBlue® tank of your Ford Transit Van Euro6 diesel engine must be filled with AdBlue® fluid. System warnings illuminate when fluid level becomes too low. For more information, please refer to the Transit Van Owner’s Manual.
Transit’s all-new Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre TDCi diesel engines are available with front, rear and all-wheel drive to give you the optimum package depending on your needs.
• Lower load height, extra interior height in the load space and larger load cube
• Lower kerbweight for greater payload and fuel efficiency
• Superior traction when heavily laden
• Best suited for heavier duty applications and towing
• Driver-selectable AWD provides extra traction in difficult terrain conditions
• Under normal conditions drive is directed to the rear wheels. When engaged, the system automatically increases engine torque to the wheel(s) with the most grip.
This innovative new option controls the rate of acceleration according to whether your Transit is un-laden or part-laden. As a result, you can expect to lower your fuel consumption by up to 15%, de-pending on your driving style. The technology can also help reduce the amount of wear and tear on the engine, brakes and tyres, along with other components.
The Transit has earned its reputation for capability and flexibility. Whichever wheelbase, roof height, or cab style you go for, you’re guaranteed vast cargo space and long load length.
The load area is designed to maximise space, with room for up to four Europallets in L2 and L3 Vans and up to five in the L4 Van. Side and rear doors are designed to make it easy to load and unload your vehicle, too.
And while the van’s efficiency can help your business make money, its low cost of ownership will help you save it.
The Transit’s load area is now better and easier to work with than ever. Side-wall angles have been revised to make them more upright and the roof raised slightly to maximise useful space.
Your van will easily fit loads you’d have to carry on a roof-rack with other vans. In fact, the Transit has an increased load length, so depending on the model you choose you can stow loads up to: 3.04m (L2), 3.49m (L3 vehicles) and 4.21m (L4 vehicles) long at the floor with a full steel bulkhead in place. (Base series figures used. Please note, loadspace length will differ between Base and Trend series)
A durable load floor liner is fitted as standard. This liner not only protects the floor of your van but also helps reduce noise when you’re driving. And because this floor rises 100mm up at the sides it’s easy to brush, vacuum or wash clean.
Bright loadspace lamps are fitted as standard, but you can also specify the option of ultra-bright LED lighting if required.
Side-wall mounted tie-down points help keep the load floor clear and are both DIN and ISO compliant, as is the full steel bulkhead that’s fitted as standard.
A wide, high-grip step is integrated into the rear bumper making it easier to step into the cargo area and more convenient when loading by-hand.
When you’ve got this much loadspace, wide side doors are vital and because they’re used a lot, the whole mechanism is built to maximise ease of use and durability. A double action release handle makes for smooth opening and closing, a ‘positive check’ latch secures the door when open and a warning beep sounds if the side door isn’t shut or locked correctly.
Tough rear doors incorporate a 360-degree seal to help reduce noise, make closing more secure and prevent water from leaking into the load area. The doors can be opened to 90 degrees and when required further to 180 degrees. Depending on the model, optional 270 degree hinges allow the doors to be opened all the way against the sides of the Van. Reflective decals on the door inner edge provide a high-visibility alert to other road users when the doors are open at 90 degrees.
The advanced all-new Ford EcoBlue 2.0L TDCi engines are durable and reliable, with longer service intervals of up to 36,000 miles, or two years. Along with this, components subject to normal wear and tear have also been designed to last longer without maintenance. In addition, oil sump capacity has been increased on front and rear wheel drive vehicles. It all helps ensure your Transit won’t let you down.
