When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system).
When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
Acceleration Control helps you drive more economically
This innovative option controls the rate of acceleration according to whether your vehicle is un-laden or part-laden. As a result, you can expect to lower your fuel consumption by up to 15%, depending on your driving style.
The technology can also help reduce the amount of wear and tear on the engine, brakes and tyres, along with other components.
Powerful and efficient Ford EcoBlue engines
Engineered to meet strict Euro6 emissions standards, the New Transit Custom’s Ford EcoBlue 2.0L TDCi engines are available in three power outputs: 105 PS/ 360 Nm, 130 PS / 385 Nm and 170 PS / 405 Nm. All combine outstanding performance and power with lower fuel consumption and emissions: from as low as 5.7L/100km (49.6 mpg) and 148g/km CO2.
Improved power and torque are delivered by a range of Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre engines. Already complying with stringent Euro Stage 6 emissions legislation, the benefits of these advanced powertrains are enhanced by a series of smart, economical technologies.
An additive that removes pollution
A selective catalytic reduction system uses AdBlue®, a urea/water-based fluid to convert NOx emissions in the exhaust gas into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces more than 99% of emitted solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust.
To operate correctly, the AdBlue® tank of your Ford EcoBlue 2.0-litre engine must be filled with AdBlue® fluid. System warnings illuminate when fluid level becomes too low.
SelectShift automatic transmission
Both the 130 PS and 170 PS engines are available with the six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. This is the standard powertrain of choice on a wide range of body styles and GVMs, and it’s designed to provide a smooth, relaxing driving experience, especially in busy stop-start traffic.
The transmission allows you to change gear manually if you prefer, using the gear shifter buttons on the facia-mounted gear lever. It also provides the ability to lock out gears in more challenging driving conditions. For example, on slippery surfaces or steep gradients.
Re-charge your battery more efficiently
Unlike traditional systems, Smart Regenerative Charging only charges the battery when it needs it and, whenever possible, avoids doing so when you’re pressing the accelerator. This can help save even more fuel and further reduce emissions.
Essential journey information
An on-board trip computer gives you useful facts and figures about your mileage, fuel consumption, speed and the outside air temperature. It also includes ‘distance to empty’: roughly how far you can go on the fuel left in the tank. This is particularly useful on long journeys, or if you know you’ll be driving somewhere remote.
Smart service technology
To help maximise efficiency and productivity, smart engine technology ensures you’re not tied to traditional service intervals. The technology takes several factors into account including oil quantity and quality, engine load, temperature and speed, to ensure your vehicle is only serviced when it needs to be.
